Excellent place to visit for breakfast, expect it to be crowded when you get there -- the seating area is rather small. They have a wide variety of breakfast foods and they do them right, but avoid the grits -- they're Quaker Instant Grits and they tend to make them watery. I would take one star off for that, but everything else is absolutely delicious.Anyway, the price is right, but make sure you have cash. They do not accept credit cards.
Warning: Pancakes are huge . . . and delicious. Great local diner with good prices and great portions.
My RUGRATS (kids) and myself love the breakfast food here... stop by and enjoy.. its packed so u might have a wait time but the food is worth the wait time...
HUGE pancakes, amazing omlettes, wonderful service, great prices, can't beat this place!!!
Hum... to be honest the food really didnt have a great taste, it wasn't nasty just tasteless. I will say the pancakes were impressive and good. The three stack is enough for 4 adults.
Huge portions. Hearty homestyle breakfast food is what I go there go, and it doesn't disappoint. Cash only, so fill your wallet before you go.
Favorite "greasy spoon" Good food and enough of it. Could use a little updating and decluttering.
Good home cooked food. Friendly staff. A local go to breakfast place.
Good food,reasonable prices
This is a local icon. These ladies have been slinging the biggest pancakes I've ever seen for at least 25 years. It's a tiny place where the prices are right, the food is consistent and the only way you can pay is cash. Just do it! Make your pancake dreams come true!
The service was very friendly and the time from order to food in front of me was impressive. However, the food didn't quite match the quality of the service. The homefries were a bit under cooked as were the eggs. I also feel like the recommended biscuit was microwaved; slight chewy consistency that's not normal for a made day of biscuit. Once the food matches the service this place will be a real gem.
Small, cozy spot where you can eat in or take out
This place has that old time diner feel. Wonderful staff, good food and large portions.
Amazing food, very reasonably priced, very friendly staff and just a great all around place to eat with family and friends. Look at those pancakes! Yum!
I am puzzled by the great reviews for this restaurant. The menu is basic and prices reasonable. The food is very institutional and the coffee was weak yet burnt tasting. I ordered a side of onion rings with my sandwich. I saw the owner pluck the rings right from the fry basket without even draining for a few seconds. The rings were still draining grease out onto the plate. The fry oil was dirty--dark caramel or gravy colored. Our waitress took the orders then proceeded to toast the bread and lay out ingredients in the open kitchen. The problem is that I never saw her wash her hands and she didn't put on gloves. She had painted (acrylic ?) nails which are not appropriate for food handling. She took more orders then proceeded to make egg salad and tuna sandwiches. Again, no handwashing or gloves. They seem like nice people. I always try to support independent businesses but I cannot reccomend this diner.
Pancakes are good. But something has changed in the last year and I won't be visiting again. Waited an hour and a half for food, asked for hot chocolate and they didn't even bother stirring the powder into the water before serving. Also pretty certain I heard the cook ask what over-easy meant. Just go to Marie's right across the street. Much better.
Food was so-so, but I question the cleanliness of the place and their adherence to food safety guidelines. We ate at the counter and didn't see anyone wash their hands, even though they were using bare hands to prepare the meals. The oil in the deep fryer looked like it hasn't been changed in years.
My eggs were perfect over medium. Thanks. That never happens.
We went there for the first time today after riding around looking for places to eat that didn't have a long wait time, we got in with no wait and I have to say the food was delicious and it didn't take long to come out, I'm so glad we stopped there and we will definitely be going back again.
I’ve eaten at this restaurant a few times over the years and I’ve always received a pleasant welcome, good food and fast friendly service. The jumbo pancakes are my husband’s favorite!
Good pancake! Rest of breakfast served 1 @ a time. BLT first... 5 mins later chipped beef...15 mins later steak & eggs. Home fries nothing but a smashed baked potato no seasoning no nothing! & Then had 2 pay $2.75 2 use ATM - cash only! I left a decent tip... Not waitress fault, but noted will not be back!
True home cooked food. Very reasonable prices. Some of the best pancakes I've ever had. The service is like you are part of their family. I'd highly recommend it. You won't be disappointed.
The pancakes are freaking HUGE. The food is so good and so affordable. Pancakes, eggs, scrapple, bacon, sausage, grits, home fries...the food was amazing and great service from everyone in there!
One of two independent diners in La Plata. A locals spot. Affordable. Cash only. Small, seats around 50 people. Friendly staff.
The food here is pretty good, as well as the portion size. It isn't thenfanciesy place, but it is a nice breakfast diner with good food and friendly staff
This is where you can get that old fashioned, down home cooking. I go here for the breakfast and it never disappoints. They serve HUGE pancakes, which is where they probably get their name from. The service is friendly and the prices are awesome. There's no frills, just country cooking!
Excellent breakfast food and pancakes are amazing. With that southern charm.
Great food services and prices
Seating is a little cramped. Service was as expected. Food was good.
Love it!!! Great country style breakfast. New cook isn't as good as it used to be but still worth stopping by
The best pancakes with huge portions! Quaint, down-home spot...very inconspicuous, but worth it!
A family owned place, no frills. Eggs, bacon, steak, scrapple and grits all cooked right. Coffee good. Bring cash. No credit cards accepted.
Classic country diner; friendly service and generous portions. The pancakes are plate sized and the omelettes are huge. Minimal wait times, clean bathrooms, and simple decor.
Well worth the wait!great food and people
Will miss eating breakfast here! Such friendly people! Great food!
It has really yummy food. The place is a little small and little tiny bit on the dirty side, nothing unsanitary though. Staff was great. It obviously is a local fav, and I understand why. Definitely will be going back.
Great little "hole in the wall" place. Feels like a mom and pop place, which is nice. The portions are huge. I was going to order a short stack and the waitress made sure to ask if I knew how big the pancakes were. Thank god she did, these pancakes are the size of hub caps. It barely fit on the plate, I decided on a single pancake and still could only finish 3/4 of it. Will definitely be back
The grits are instant grits. The waitress literally opened the pack in front of me, she scooped a teaspoon of butter and dropped it in my cup of grits, and she poured heated water from a coffee pot into my bowl. About 3 lbs. of bacon was dropped into a fry basket and was deep-fried like it was a funnel cake. Finally, the cook used the same three spatulas to flip sausage, eggs, grilled onions, pre-cooked potatoes, and hamburger meat that was frying at the back corner of the grill. Sorry for the long review but if your health is second to your hunger, then Pancakes Plus is the place to eat.
I love this place! It’s an amazing down home welcome vibe. My boyfriend and I love coming in for breakfast on Sundays. These ladies know how to take care of you, and the food is just as delicious.
This place is full of hard working, down to earth people. Great home cooked meals. You won't leave hungry or broke. Very reasonably priced. Biggest and best pancakes I've every had. I've eaten here several times and have never had a bad meal. Don't go if you're in a hurry on the weekend. They get busy and it may take a while, but worth it.
I was getting my car AC fixed and decided to walk in the hot sun to have some delicious pancakes. Unfortunately the business can’t figure out how to stay open during the hours posted on their front door.
I love going to hometown/local restaurants because they never disappoint just like this one. Feel right at home at chat about the good things in life. Defiantly coming back.
The food was okay. They serve self serve packs of grits, instead of REAL pot cooked grits. They came out gritty and half done. I love grits, I'm a southern girl. The rest of my breakfast was fine. I will say I was could have exchanged the grits for home fries. But decided not to because I had fried eggs and I have to have grits with my fried eggs.
Walked in, nobody spoke or made eye contact. We’re finally told after we directly asked where to sit that we could sit anywhere we could find open. Heard the waitress tell someone they were out of bacon. This was all before the after church crowd hit. Hope it was just a bad day for the customer service.
It's good but the prices are pretty high for breakfast. Also it's not the same since their long time cook left.
Always great sorry to see them go.😢
Nice and quaint setting very good for the price. Great service ask for Bobbi when you go in she's the best!
Great food and not very expensive
Meh. Fast service. Dinky, dim, dated establishment. Felt like a failed bar was turned into someone's weird concept of a bootleg iHop. Pancakes are HUGE and a good value. Patty sausage tastes like, and has the consistency of fried wet dog food. I would never order them again and I'm concerned what they really were. Home fries are undeniably real, chunky potatoes and have the potential for more flavor beyond the onions with which they're cooked. Eggs are just ok, and, ordered scrambled with cheese, I just felt underwhelmed. Not a place I'd recommend, given other local options.
Wonderful, friendly staff, great food, very affordable
